Saturday, April 22 – 1:25 PM

The wind is starting to pick up as the afternoon progresses.  With the bright sunshine and lack of clouds, some wind will help to add a bit of a chop to the water that could help these anglers get a few more key bites before having to return back to weigh-in.

Saturday, April 22 – 12:40 PM

Saturday, April 22 – 12:20 PM

Jenkins & Avant from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College check in with a decent keeper fish.

Saturday, April 22 – 11:30 AM

Garrett & Collin from Top 25 ranked Missouri State have four fish for roughly eight pounds.

Saturday, April 22 – 10:35 AM

Cruvellier & Huddleston from 2nd ranked Auburn University landed this nice keeper.

Auburn enters this event a few thousand points behind top ranked Montevallo.  Auburn is also one of three teams inside the Top 5 for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia that has never won the prestigious title.  Two good showings by teams at this double points event will go a long ways in helping teams surge up the rankings.

Saturday, April 22 – 9:55 AM

One of our cameras has caught up with a local team from Top 10 ranked University of North Alabama.  The team has zero fish and is leaving the tailrace to go try a new area.

Leading up to the tournament, we interviewed team members from UNA on the weekly Rapala #WeAreCollegiateBass Podcast to preview how the fishery was setting up.  Listen to that episode here.

Saturday, April 22 – 9:40 AM

Cloudy, rainy conditions overnight have given way to bright sunshine this morning.  Temperatures have also dropped roughly 15 degrees from what they were earlier in the week.  Things are setting up to be textbook post-frontal conditions.  It will be interesting to se how these teams go about getting bites each of the next two days.

Saturday, April 22 – 9:10 AM

Owen & Matt from 3rd ranked Adrian College have no keeper fish so far.

Saturday, April 22 – 8:55 AM

Pictured here is Carson from 2nd ranked Auburn with a keeper fish.

A member of our camera crew started the morning at the Wilson Dam tailrace, where this event was won two years ago.  So far this morning, the action up there appears to be very slow.

Saturday, April 22 – 7:45 AM

Maddux & Peck from 2nd ranked Auburn University have three keepers.

Of the teams competing here this weekend, all of the Top 10 teams in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia are on hand, as well as 20 of the Top 25.

Saturday, April 22 – 7:10 AM

The full field of over 400 anglers is now out on the water competing.  We will provide updates as we receive them!

Storms rolled through the Florence, AL area late last night, bringing heavy rain and cooler temperatures.  This could have a big impact on the fishing.  The cold could effect where the fish move and set up, and the rain fall will likely muddy some areas that had cleaner water throughout practice.

Saturday, April 22 – 5:00 AM
