Top-Ranked University of Montevallo Extends School of the Year Lead to Nearly 1,000 Points

Top 3 slots remain same since latest update as Adrian College sits in 2nd, and McKendree University is in 3rd

SAN ANTONIO, TX (FEBRUARY 2, 2021) – The start of the spring tournament season is on the horizon, and collegiate teams across the country are looking to position themselves at a run to become the 2021 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  With the first School of the Year points earning events scheduled to take place at the end of the month, the Association of Collegiate Anglers is providing the latest update to the points standings.  Number one ranked University of Montevallo extends their lead by an additional 885 points over second-ranked Adrian College, and McKendree University lingers within striking distance in third.

Here is a quick look at the teams that made significant moves in the Top 25:

8th Ranked Blue Mountain College – Previously Ranked 11th

18th Ranked Georgia Southern University – Previously Ranked 24th

20th Ranked University of Tennessee – Previously Ranked 27th

The latest update to the standings saw a decent amount of movement inside of the Top 25.  Two new teams crack the Top 25 in the University of Tennessee and Northwestern State.  Blue Mountain College surges into the Top 10 moving from 11th up to 8th.

Montevallo continues to maintain the spotlight as the number one ranked team in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  Prior to the latest update, Montevallo led second-place Adrian by a mere 30 points.  After three good showings spread across an FLW Regional, Southern Collegiate event, and the ACA Online Tournament, Montevallo now holds a commanding 915-point lead.

Spring of 2021 will play a crucial role in determining the winner of the 2021 School of the Year race.  Here is a look at upcoming major events that will count for points:

  • MLF Regional – Harris Chain of Lakes – February 12th
  • MLF Championship – Grand Lake – March 3-5
  • Bassmaster College Series – Lake Norman – March 5-6
  • ACA Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley – Kentucky Lake – March 13-14 (DOUBLE POINTS EVENT)
