The Association of Collegiate Anglers Announces Modifications to Program Details for the 2023-24 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia

SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 28, 2023) – The Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia is college fishing’s only all-encompassing National Rankings system.  Operated by the Association of Collegiate Anglers, the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia is a year-long race in which thousands of collegiate anglers representing hundreds of different schools compete in local, regional, and national events in an attempt to earn as many points as possible to help their school earn a spot inside of the coveted Top 25, or even finish the year ranked number one.

With recent changes being made to another major college fishing tournament trail that qualifies to be eligible for points towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia, the ACA is announcing modifications to its 2023-24 program details.

The 2023-24 season for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia is being extended to run through June 7th, 2024.  By moving the end date to the season back by two weeks, the final Bassmaster College Series event on Saginaw Bay during June 6-7, 2024 will be the last points qualifying event for this points cycle.

Following the conclusion of the event on Saginaw Bay, the ACA will calculate the final points totals for the 2023-24 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  The ACA and CarecoTV staff will travel to the campus of the number one school to award the trophy and create a made-for-tv segment that will showcase the winning school on national television.

Along with the extension of the season, the ACA is making a slight tweak to the B.A.S.S. major event rules.  Each university/college bass fishing club can now earn points at their first three (3) B.A.S.S. regular season collegiate events competed in, regardless of division, excluding the B.A.S.S. College Championship and Wild Card.

The Bassmaster College Series recently introduced two divisions, the Legends Trail and Lunkers Trail, for the 2024 season.  Regardless of divisions, each school will be eligible to earn points for its first three college B.A.S.S. events competed in.  Any other B.A.S.S. regular season collegiate events competed in after that time will not count for points towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.
