The creation of the new event is now offering college anglers a fourth opportunity to compete in the Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series and earn valuable points towards the Cabela’s School of the Year points April 30 on Lake Texoma. The event will consist of a standard tournament format of two angler teams fishing for victory with their best five bass. Lake Texoma is the most diverse lake in the region and collegiate anglers can expect to catch a mixed bag of largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass during this event.

“Denison is very honored to host the Texas Collegiate Challenge presented by Abu Garcia here on Lake Texoma,” said Melanie Truxal with the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce. “This is a phenomenal area for fishing and our community loves having anglers fish here. We are ready to welcome the 2017 Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series to Denison!”Denison_Logo_transparentThis televised event will take place on the Sunday after a Texas Team Trail (TXTT) event on Saturday, also on Lake Texoma. Collegiate anglers who wish to compete in the TXTT event on Saturday will be given the opportunity to do so with a waived membership fee, saving each student $30, and will only have to pay the TXTT entry fee. For more information on competing in the TXTT event on Lake Texoma, email Amanda Gutierrez at Amanda@carecotv.com.

“This is a great opportunity for college anglers to earn additional Cabela’s School of the Year points as it is a double points event, and get an extra chance to compete in the Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series,” stated Wade Middleton, President of CarecoTV and Director of the Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. “Because this tournament is in a different region than the additional three events, I believe that we could possibly see a home field advantage to some of the Texas and Oklahoma schools.”
