Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley: Statement from the ACA

At this time, the Association of Collegiate Anglers & Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series are monitoring the current lake conditions at Kentucky Lake near Paris, TN.  The Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley is currently scheduled to take place on the Tennessee River impoundment March 9th-10th.  Heavy flooding has impacted this part of the country and is greatly influencing the lake levels at Kentucky Lake and the surrounding area.

For reference, normal winter pool at Kentucky Lake is 354 ft.  Summer pool normally grows the lake to 359 ft.  This large influx of water in late February has greatly impacted the Tennessee River system to the point that many areas are closed, including Paris Landing State Park Marina, the host site for the event.

As of 10:00 AM this morning, Kentucky Lake’s water elevation is at 364.97 ft.  Over the next 48 hours, projections have the lake rising another foot and a half to 366.39 ft.  A quick glance at the forecast shows not so favorable conditions around that area for the next several days as well.  Today there is a 60% chance of rain, and Sunday shows a 100% chance with expected rainfall totals near half an inch.

ACA officials are aware of the changing conditions, and are continuing to monitor the flooding and safety issues caused by this situation.  A timeline has been set for the next update in regards to the status of the Big Bass Bash.   The ACA will release another statement on Monday morning, March 4th, at 9:00 AM CT, updating the status of this event.  In the meantime, we encourage anglers to delay their travel plans until the announcement is made.  Continue to check our social media pages and website for more information.
