Adrian College Continues to Hold Top Spot

McKendree University in second and Sam Houston State University in third

The first major event of the 2019-2020 season for the Association of Collegiate Anglers and the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series is just a few days away.  The 2019 Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley will be contested on Kentucky Lake from October 4th through the 5th, and it’s promising to be another slug fest that will shake up the race for Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  Over the course of two days, college anglers traveling from nationwide will be in the Paris, TN area competing to earn valuable points for their school to count towards the School of the Year competition.

It has been about a week since the last rankings update, and not much has changed.  Adrian College, located in Adrian, MI, continues to hold a commanding lead.  Entering the Big Bass Bash, the Bulldogs hold a sizable lead of more than 1,100 points over the reigning School of the Year Champions, McKendree University.   The rest of the top five schools in order are: Sam Houston State, Murray State and Bethel University.

As the current leaders of the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia, Adrian College will be sporting the exclusive BUFF® Headwear Yellow Jersey.  “Buff makes quality product.  We’re excited to wear them,” said Blake Johnson, member of the Adrian College team.  The Yellow Jersey program was first introduced at Pickwick Lake earlier this year for the Championship, where McKendree University was the first team to don the multifunctional headwear.  At the Big Bass Bash, Adrian will become just the second school to have the honor of wearing the Yellow Jersey.  “This is only the second team that’s gotten to wear them, so it’s definitely something cool to show off,” noted Zach Manneback, Adrian College angler.

For those who may not be familiar with Adrian College, they’re team colors are easy to distinguish out on the water.  Their main two colors are black and yellow.  Combine those with the Yellow Jersey, and the anglers are excited to have some added swag out on the water.  “I mean, they’re yellow.  Look at our jerseys, they’re going to match our jerseys good.  We’re going to be out there representing those school of the year Buffs, looking good in them,” said Manneback. Equipped with knowledge of the lake, great confidence, and the BUFF® Headwear Yellow Jersey, Adrian College is ready for the weekend.  “Everybody already knows when they see Adrian on the water, but it’s going to really stand out now.  That get’s us excited, we’re really happy to be able to wear those at the Bash,” added Manneback.
