Due to current flooding situation that’s on-going at Sam Rayburn, the scheduled Texas Lunker Challenge event for February 3rd will be canceled due to unsafe boating conditions both now and that are projected into the future. We want to make this announcement well in advance, so anglers will not spend time on the water practicing ahead of the off limits as well as allow them time to adjust travel plans.
“It’s never easy to make a decision like this weeks in advance. However, based on the data available and with the lake already 10 feet high and rising, all indications are that there will not only be limited boat ramps available on Sam Rayburn for the foreseeable future, but that the lake will present unsafe boating conditions due to large debris in the water under certain weather conditions when anglers would be practicing for the event,” said Wade Middleton, Director of the ACA.
We will announce in the near future plans to make this event up based on schedules and availability of dates.
