This weekend, the Association of Collegiate Anglers will host its second double points event of the season to count towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  The AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open is set to take place at Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, AR on October 14-15.  Over 240 of the country’s top college fishing teams are on hand to compete for valuable double points and over $20,000 in prizes and contingencies.  Schools will be eligible to earn points for their two highest finishing teams inside of the Top 150, and first place will receive 1,750 points.

21 of the Top 25 ranked teams are registered to compete in the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open.  The Top 5 ranked schools enter this event separated by less than 1,300 points.  Roughly 2,600 points separate sixth through 22nd.  Two quality finishes at Lake Dardanelle this weekend can net a team over 3,000 points.  There is a potential for teams to make major moves in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.

Each year, the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open is a key event in defining the race for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  The event is the final ACA double points tournament on the fall schedule as this semester will soon draw to an end in a few months.  In years past, schools that do well at this tournament have gone on to take over or the lead, or make a major run towards the Top 5, as well as surge into the Top 25, of the final rankings.  Following the completion of this weekend’s tournament, the ACA will update the points standings for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia next week.
