Live Blog: October 8 – Tournament Day 1

Saturday, October 8- 4:40PM

The Arkansas Tech team of Mat and John Foster finished on top when the scales closed on day 1 of the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open! The duo dropped a 15.56 pound sack of fish on the scales to edge out McKendree University’s Lane and Colsyn by over 2 pounds! The McKendree pair weighed in 13.54 pounds to put them in position for day 2 of the event here in Russellville, AR!

The tanks are full here in Russellville and there is only 1 more flight left to check in! We’ve seen a bunch of fish! stay tuned to see who’s on top when the scales close!

Reports on the water have slowed as we near weigh in. Based on this morning, we should have plenty of fish to weigh this afternoon but it is to be determined how the rest of the day has unfolded. Our cameras caught back up with 3rd ranked McKendree University’s Colsyn and Lane after they locked back up to Dardanelle. The duo has a nice limit for about 12 pounds with one and a half hours left till weigh in begins!

Lots of running around on Dardanelle today for our anglers. In less than 2 and a half hours our anglers will be running back to Russellville for weigh in! As we near noon here in Russellville, AR, 9th ranked Emmanuel College shows off a few keepers they’ve collected this morning.

One of our Collegiate Bass camera crews has checked in with a 42nd ranked Tarleton State University team. While ranked in 42nd, Tarleton sent 17 teams to the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open in hopes to cash in on the double points this event offers.

  Adrian College enters the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open ranked in first place for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. The team of Caleb and Aaron started the event strong with a nice keeper. Adrian College will be looking to place two teams high in the standings to take advantage of the double points and maintain their lead as the nation’s top team.

3rd ranked McKendree University’s team of Lane and Colsyn fishing down from the lock this morning. Top finishers every year lock down and find success on the rock banks down river. This morning anglers locked through to try and find that same success. Tune in to weigh in to see if they found that success at 3:00 central time on the Outdoor Action TV app.

Fish catches have already started coming in as anglers take advantage of the Dardanelle morning bite! This one is from 2nd ranked Montevallo and the team of Cal and Beau. Reports tell us this is their team’s second keeper of the morning!  Beau has a lot of knowledge on this fishery and a history of quality finishes throughout the year.  Keep eye on them to do well as the day progresses.

The weather was a little chilly this morning in Russellville for take off of the Aftco Collegiate Bass Open on Lake Dardanelle. The chilly weather had anglers sporting their Aftco rain suits to keep them warm on their early morning run. The weather will quickly warm up to 74 degrees by the beginning of weigh in!

That didn’t take long! A few anglers didn’t run far this morning. A team was spotted sporting their Aftco rain suit not far from the ramp this morning fishing moving baits on a rock bank. Thank you Aftco for their support for the Aftco Collegiate Bass Open on Lake Dardanelle!

And they’re off! 218 Collegiate Bass anglers are out and fishing on Lake Dardanelle this morning! Take off out of Russellville wrapped up at about 7:50 this morning and the first flight is due back in at 3:00. Most of the 218 boats registered for competition are in the water and waiting for take off. Take off begins in 9 minutes here in Russellville Arkansas on Lake Dardanelle for the Aftco Collegiate Bass Open!

Anglers are in line and backing down the ramp here in Russellville Arkansas. Anglers will take off at 7:00 for the Aftco Collegiate Bass Open here on Lake Dardanelle. 218 boats are set to fish this event!

Good morning from Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, AR for Day 1 of the 2022 AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open.  A full field of close to 220 boats will be taking off from Lake Dardanelle State Park this morning to begin tournament competition in the second event of the season on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series.  Follow along with the live blog today for updates from on the water and great content!
