25th Place – Mississippi State University

San Antonio, TX (April 20, 2020) – Located in Starkville, MS, Mississippi State University has historically been very active on the college bass fishing circuits for many years.  The school is located in and amongst some of the best bass fishing lakes the south has to offer, and the student anglers from Starkville make the most of this opportunity and fish these bodies of water consistently.  One of the most notable alumni of this program is Abu Garcia/Berkley Pro Justin Atkins.  Atkins competed at the college level for Mississippi State and has made a name for himself as one of the top young anglers out on the professional circuit.

The 2019-2020 season has been a very fruitful year for Mississippi State.   The 2019 AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open on Lake Dardanelle provided a great springboard for this club.  Boone Faulkner & Nick Beckstein finished in 35th place, and Connor McNabb & Lon Yeary completed the event in 42nd, to help the team leave Russellville with 1,250 points.  Once the calendar flipped over to 2020, Mississippi State continued to build on its momentum.  Though they fished only three events in this calendar year, they managed to amass nearly 1,800 points.  For the season, they have earned a total of 4,115 points.

Starkville is located within close proximity to Florence, AL and has had teams in contention to win the BoatUS Championship in the past and they’re hoping this is their year.  Be sure to keep an eye out for the anglers representing Mississippi State when tournament competition begins in just over four weeks!
