Bass Community Leader - Costa Del Mar

 

The Bass Community is an important element of the fishing community in the U.S.  They are the largest fishing group, with over 27 million participants.  Costa Del Mar has been steadily developing its presence within the Bass community over the past several years. Costa has made significant investments in conservation and marketing in the Bass community and has begun to develop strong relationships with many pros, tournaments, media, retailers and other leaders within the community. Success in Bass is a critical part of Costa’s strategy to grow in the interior of the US, including the SE, West, and NE, and to eventually become a national sunglass brand. 

 

In order to accelerate its growth within Bass, Costa is creating a new position – Bass Community Leader. The role of the Bass Community Leader will be to make Costa the dominant sunglass brand among bass fishermen. 

 

The Bass Community Leader will be Costa’s face to the Bass community.  He will further develop and manage key relationships within the community and coordinate all Costa marketing initiatives within the community.  He will work closely with the sales leadership in bass geographies to help them expand distribution and increase turns.  They will work as a team to win Bass for Costa.

 

The Community Leader will be asked to develop an annual community marketing plan, set annual goals, and execute the plan.  He will be given a budget and will have the resources of Costa staff and agencies to assist in execution of the plan. 

 

Specific duties:

 

  • Manage pro relationships
  • Manage conservation programs
  • Manage event sponsorships and promotions
  • Assist in content development for web, blog and advertising
  • Assist in social media and PR
  • Assist in media planning

Assist in the new product development process for a specific brand or category including opportunity
assessment, concept development, market introduction and evaluation of business impact.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist Product managers with projects during the development process
Learn the details of the I3 (product development) process from concept to delivery
Assist product managers with PowerPoint presentations
Learn the product assortment and the application of how it is used
Assist product managers with competitive analysis
Maintain competitive sample room for all product managers
Help identify voids in the assortment and new product opportunities in the marketplace
Help develop cosmetic options for future projects
Present new products to internal employees and customers

We are looking for a full-time Sponsorship Marketing Specialist for our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.  Essential functions for this role include:

  • Be an ambassador to the Marine Division working closely with marketing leaders to understand sales and marketing objectives in order to identify and pursue marine sponsorship, promotional, and event opportunities relative to the Marine segment
  • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities related to Garmin’s sponsorships, promotions and events
  • Work with company spokespersons and other personalities who support Garmin brand initiatives
  • Evaluate all unsolicited in-coming marketing sponsorship opportunities and act on those that are deemed relevant to Garmin’s marketing objectives

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, advertising, communication, journalism or another related field from a four year college or university plus a minimum of 3 years marketing activation and/or promotions execution experience is required for this role. 

Qualified candidates must also be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision, possess the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment, and demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability and willingness to travel plus demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also required.

Candidates with experience or interest in fishing and boating are preferred.
