CABELA'S WELCOMES COLLEGIATE ANGLERS ARRIVING IN TEXAS AS BOATU.S. COLLEGIATE BASS FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK BEGINS

Ft Worth, Texas - More than 300 collegiate anglers from across the country gathered at the Cabela's retail store in Ft. Worth, Texas to begin preparations for the 2010 BoatU.S. Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship.

As host of Collegiate Bass Fishing Day, Cabela's rolled out the red carpet for the student anglers who, in many cases, traveled from great distances to attend in the event. In addition to providing each two person team in attendance a $100 Cabela's gift card, professional bass anglers Denny Brauer, Jeff Kriet, Kelly Jordan, Mike McClelland, Greg Hackney, John Crews and Wade Middleton were on site to provide instructional seminars and shopping assistance.

"This is an awesome event and a great way to kick off the tournament," said Logan Bliss, one of six anglers from the University of Wisconsin-Steven's Point who traveled more than 20 hours with a boat in tow. "It's really neat to be able to get one-on-one advice from these top bass professionals. As a college student on a limited budget, I really appreciate the Cabela's gift card too."

After stocking up with the lures they think they'll need to fool the bass in Lake Lewisville, the devoted competitors will hit the water at sunrise tomorrow morning to begin the process of identifying the areas where they think they can catch the bass necessary to win this prestigious national championship title.

Following two days of practice on the 25th and 26th, the tournament will get underway at safe light on the 27th when the anglers takeoff from Sneaky Pete's; then return for weigh in beginning at 3:00 pm. This schedule will be repeated on the 28th and the 2010 champions will be crowned as soon as the scales settle on Friday.
