"I had the privilege of meeting the 2006 championship team from North Carolina State at this year's ICAST Show in Las Vegas, and I was impressed," said Chris Lindenberg, owner of Gene Larew Lures, LLC. "Chad (Craven) and Alex (Freeman) reflect what this program is all about - college-aged kids who are passionate about fishing and great ambassadors for the sport.

"Those two champions, plus fellow teammates, Josh Quesinberry and Jason Livinston, and their advisor, Jonathan Phillips, gave all of us who had the opportunity to meet them a boost about the future of fishing. Equally pleasing was to learn how familiar they were with our Gene Larew products. Mr. Larew would be proud to know the legacy of the baits he left behind remains in the good hands of this new generation of anglers," he said.

The Gene Larew name is one of the oldest and most respected soft plastic bait brands in the fishing tackle industry. Larew was an avid fisherman and resort owner from Missouri who died before he got to see his baits rise to fame. He experimented with all kinds of additives from sugar to Coca-Cola before finally settling on the fact that it was salt that made the most discernible difference on how bass reacted to baits. Larew patented the salt impregnation process in 1980. Today the name is recognized throughout all fishing circles as being the originator of the salt impregnation process, made famous by the Gene Larew Salt Craw.

Gene Larew Lures is located in Owasso, Okla., where the company manufactures its baits using the finest soft plastic injection molding equipment in the industry. That's why the baits are so consistent in shape and color, which isn't always the case with many soft baits on the market today.

The Salt Craw remains one of our most popular baits, but two brand new items for 2008 are already getting lots of attention - the Three-Legged Frog and the Biffle-O. The Biffle-O is a totally unique item introduced by professional angler Tommy Biffle.

Larew also makes and markets the Bobby Garland crappie baits and the High Tide saltwater baits.

At Gene Larew, salt is catching!

Says Lindenberg, "We're proud to be a sponsor of the BoatU.S. National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship."
