SFA BASS CLUB TO HOST BUCKETMOUTH BASS TOURNAMENT AT SAM RAYBURN

2007 SFA Bucketmouth Bass Tournament
Stephen F. Austin State University Bass Club will host the Bucketmouth Bass Tournament at Lake Sam Rayburn, December 15-20, 2008. This event, being held on one of the most storied bass fisheries in the nation, is sanctioned by the Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA). It will launch the 2009 ACA tournament series leading up to the 2009 BoatU.S. Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship event. The tournament will be showcased on the Collegiate Bass Championship television series that will air on Versus during the fall of 2009.
"Rayburn is a great lake to fish on. 32 teams competed last year and more are expected to participate this year" stated Elizabeth Ross, the Event Coordinator at Stephen F. Austin. The 2007 event was dominated by Stephen F. Austin with the Texas club taking first through third place. This didn't sit too well with the rival college clubs who are determined to give the host club a run for their money this year. "Last years event was just the icebreaker for 2008, we did have a great turnout of schools and fishing was great, but it will soon become a shadow, starting on December 19." Said Ryan Watkins, last year's champion. "It's going to be tough," said Baylor University's Jay Holland. "They (Stephen F. Austin) know that lake really well, it's their stomping grounds. We are always trying to beat other Texas teams and we will be covering as much water as we can trying to do so."
The first place team will receive free lodging for their club at the 2009 BoatU.S. Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship event. Additional prizes provided by sponsors such as Cabela's, Sperry Top Sider, Pure Fishing and Costa Del Mar will also be awarded.
The angler that catches the biggest bass during this event will join the big bass winners from the other 2009 ACA sanctioned regional events for an all expenses paid trip to Lago Vista Lodge located at Mexico's famed Lake Guerrero. The trip will be hosted by Wade Middleton and Jeff Kriet and will be featured on Americana Outdoors, Fisherman's Handbook and the Collegiate Bass Championship television shows.
Official practice for the SFA Bucketmouth Bass Tournament is December 15-18. The registration deadline is 6:30 p.m. on December 18th. Registration and the rules banquet immediately following will be held at Rayburn Country Resort. Tournament days are Friday and Saturday, December 19th and 20th with weigh-in beginning at 3:00 p.m. both days.
"College bass fishing continues to captivate the boating industry which is why we're involved. These anglers represent the next generation of boat owners and anglers" stated Chris Edmonston of BoatUS, a long time supporter of college bass fishing.
